HTML Rendering engine is responsible to convert html code and scripts into web pages that you see and interact with. By default Ziepod uses HTML rendering engine of Internet Explorer, which is available in all windows based PCs.
However, you may not want to use rendering engine of Microsoft for personal reasons. In that case, Ziepod also enables you to select Gecko rendering engine, if it is installed on your computer.
Here is how to set it:
- Open Preferences Dialog
- Switch to the 'Advanced' tab and click 'Set Advanced Settings' button, which opens up a new dialog window.
- In that new window, switch to the 'HTML Render' tab.
- In focused tab, you will see a combobox. If you have Gecke HTML Rendering engine installed on your computer, you will be able to select 'Gecko HTML Render Engine' option thru that combobox.
- Click 'Apply' button and then restart Ziepod to apply this change.
How to use Gecko Render Engine
Gecko HTML Render Engine is also used by Firefox web browser. However, this doesn't mean that you have Gecko installed if you have FireFox.
In order to use Gecko, you have to install additional package, which you can find at http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/control.htm
Keep in mind that at this moment Gecko does not provide fully established solution for rendering. If you don't know what you are doing, it is not recommended since you may experience problems related to rendering of web pages, that is, things may not be seen as supposed to be.
